Fourth of July weekend

It’s always hard to leave the kids each morning, but harder after such a beautiful weekend together. Here I am, back on the bus, commuting in and thinking back on our long weekend together and wishing it didn’t have to end. Jeremy and I took an extra day off yesterday, so we had a four day weekend together, our longest time off since I started work. We really needed a break and some extra time together. It was wonderful. We’re all a little tanner, a little more relaxed, and already counting down the days till this weekend when the fun can continue.

Of course we packed in several fun activities, like the Fourth of July parade in Edmonds, a quintessential small town parade with tons of candy for Elliott. He is now officially the biggest fan of parades. Nora, not so much, who cried her poor head off each time an old fashioned fire truck went by and sounded its sirens. We went berry picking to the same farm we went last year. How much has changed from then, with Nora on the outside and Elliott so much bigger. He did a great job picking berries, and Nora loved the raspberries fresh from the bush. We also went to the wading pool, and the spray park, and just relaxed at home working in the yard and drawing with sidewalk chalk and spraying plants with the hose. It was a simple weekend, but incredible.
