To celebrate Jeremy’s grandparents turning 90, the Corless family got together for a holiday reunion. We love Warren and Glenda, who are warm, kind, charming people who cherish their family. It was absolutely wonderful to see their faces shine when we all arrived, seeing all of their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren in their home. And it was so good to see our babes forming bonds with Warren and Glenda, and all their extended family. Elliott and his second-cousin Lillie hit it off from the beginning, Elliott following her everywhere and so clearly looking up to her. Nora loved the big kids as well, and enjoyed all the snuggles and kisses from the whole family.
The trip was long, but so worth it. I was really proud of the kids, who were champs through long lines, skipped naps, different meals, new faces, and sleeping in a new place. Next time we will either get adjoining rooms or try harder to find a suite. After getting the kids to bed at 7 pm Seattle time, J and I would hang out in the bathroom, drinking wine and watching Netflix on the iPad because there was no where else to watch! Or we would alternate who got to leave the room, and one of us would hang out with the other adults in the lobby as the other stayed in the bathroom of our hotel. It was an adventure for sure, but so good to spend part of our holiday vacation with our family, and celebrate Warren and Glenda!
Here are our pictures from the adventure! Sorry about the strange sizes on some of the photos. I’m having some technology issues!
The emergency card on the plane provided tons of entertainment for both kids. Elliott loved narrating our journey.
Meeting Great-Grandma and Great-Grandpa
Jeremy’s Aunt Ceil was seriously Mary Poppins with the kids. Jeremy and I managed to have multiple conversations because she kept the kids so busy! Her balloon swords and homemade Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles costumes were so fun!
Grandpa and Grandma’s Number 1 girl.
Hotel fun. Both babes LOVED the pool! An awesome way to expend energy in the middle of winter in the Midwest. As you can see, baby Nora gets a little tired of big brother’s big hugs!
More fun with our family.
On our way home, we stopped at the St. Louis children’s museum, where Jeremy used to visit as a kid. The kids were tired (Nora almost fell asleep in the middle of the museum!) but it was an awesome way to kill time before our flight. Our departure was delayed by an hour. Thankfully, the St. Louis airport had a fantastic kids play airport, designed by the Children’s Museum. Thank you Magic House!
And finally, back home. We were tired the next day, getting home around midnight, but it was good to be back. And the sweetest part, the connections we all brought home with us. When eating her afternoon snack, Nora kept pointing to our fridge. I looked over, and she was clearly pointing at Warren and Glenda’s picture on our fridge, saying hi. A great way to start 2015!
